The Sisters of Providence arrived in the West 150 years ago, determined to meet the needs of the people they encountered and to collaborate with others wherever they settled. Today, the people of Providence Health Care—a ministry of the Sisters of Providence—persevere in the Sisters’ mission of love and healing. As provider, employer, advocate and citizen, we ground that mission in our belief that every person, of every faith, ethnicity and class, is a treasure. Every life is a sacred gift.
Like the Sisters before us, we realize we cannot achieve our mission of love and healing alone. So we partner with local organizations to provide care through neighborhood clinics, emergency shelters, programs for the homeless and services for struggling families.
We also provide millions of dollars in charity care each year, working to bring to life the Sisters’ vision of healing and compassion to all, especially those who are poor, vulnerable and underserved.
As you read about some of the efforts we support in this year’s report to the community, you’ll find we care about the whole person, addressing physical, mental, social and spiritual needs alike.
