Bone and Joint Center

Orthopedics is the study of the musculoskeletal system-the skeleton, joints, muscles and other supporting structures such as ligaments and cartilage-and the prevention and repair of injuries or disorders of those areas. When in good condition, the musculoskeletal system works like a finely-tuned machine, allowing us to walk, run and hug our loved ones!

That's why the Bone and Joint Center at Sacred Heart offers a specialized approach to your orthopedic care needs. We offer pre-surgery classes, training for your support person, physical therapy and post-surgical support. Registered nurses and physical therapists teach patients about the anatomy of the knee or hip, pre-surgery exercises, what to expect after surgery, pain relief methods, physical therapy and how to prepare for returning home.

With today's medical technology and advances in treatment, the length of stay for most orthopedic procedures is less than a week. Following discharge from the hospital, rehabilitation continues at home, or in some cases in an extended care facility.
