Our Team

Approximately 40 orthopedic surgeons serve on the Sacred Heart medical staff, providing the knowledge and skills necessary to treat patients undergoing surgery for total joint replacements, spinal conditions, arthroscopy, shoulder and knee care, trauma and fractures. Most have their own practices and specialize in one particular area. This specialization helps patients with their individualized needs.

More than half of the nursing staff has advanced training with certification in orthopedics, medical/surgical nursing and/or trauma. The Physical Therapy department also plays an important role with rehabilitative therapies at the Bone and Joint Center.

Other orthopedic team members include social workers and pharmacy technicians. Together, their goal is for patients to be well informed about their treatment and recovery, receive excellent care, and have the safest road to recovery!

The Bone & Joint Center has worked closely with other Spokane hospitals, home health agencies and long-term care facilities to develop many programs to help orthopedic patients. These include:

  • A city-wide effort to coordinate services and education for fractured hip patients.
  • Pain management improvement.
  • Pre-op total hip patient education.
  • Pre-op total knee patient education.
