Know the Signs of a Stroke

Stroke is the third leading cause of death, and the primary cause of long-term disability in the United States. Yet time can make all the difference. The faster a stroke sufferer receives treatment, the better the chances of recovery.


If you believe you are experiencing a stroke, call 911 immediately.

  • Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, leg or one side of the body.
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech.
  • Trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.
  • Sudden severe headache with no known cause.
