Michael Ring, MD, an interventional cardiologist with 17 years of experience, has returned to Spokane to resume his clinical practice with Heart Clinics Northwest and to serve as medical director of Sacred Heart Medical Center's cardiovascular services. In addition, he assumed chairmanship of the Cardiac Service Line in June, a role previously held by Samuel Selinger, MD. Dr. Ring will also support Sacred Heart in additional areas such as cardiovascular research, quality enhancement, performance improvement, medical staff relations, and serves as medical director of the cardiac catheterization labs.
For the past year, Dr. Ring was on the teaching staff at St. Francis Medical Center in Hartford, CN. "I quickly realized that Sacred Heart is among the elite in terms of its quality of care and its ability to embrace change, especially in the informatics area, "notes Dr. Ring. "I'm glad to be back."
Vice President Gerard Fischer says Dr. Ring's leadership will allow Sacred Heart to continue being at the forefront in providing comprehensive cardiovascular services. In addition, Dr. Ring was instrumental in helping Sacred Heart respond to the initial phases of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Hospital Quality Incentive program (in which Sacred Heart now scores in the top deciles of all cardiac measurements) and continues his focus on cardiac research as well.
